altered dental floss container

it's the 15th on artzdescrap and so another inspirational scrapper would be giving a nice tutorial on altered storage container. head on to artzdescrap to view felicia ow's lovely tutorial for all of us.

this is my take on storage containers for the month of May. i decided to alter a dental floss container and turn it into a paper clip storage.

i used a watson's dental floss container given to me by joyleen lim.

KAH MEI SMITH's BEST OF YOU CLASS

last may 10, 2008, scrappers from Manila attended Ms Kah Mei Smith's ( owner of Fontwerks ) Best of You class at the Luna Gardens, Rockwell, Makati. This was made possible with Scrapbukan's generous owner, Ms Sahrie Wenceslao. This is Kah Mei's last stop from her
Asian class tour! wow. She is a malaysian but settled in canada for the past 20 years.

what a fun day we had there!!! so much freebies and a fast paced class wherein majority of us were able to finish the 10 page mini book and lots of techniques involved too! we were able to finish this in 5 hours time, not bad huh.

all of us went home with our hands full of goodies and a minibook to show to our loved ones... had fun with my table mates CH, Tin and CV.

i am back

whew i am back. of course my blog has been hibernating for the past days because i have to look into past entries which needs some spic and span but here i am again...happy to share what i know and inspiring you all about this passion so much. oh why do we love this craft with our heart? only we can tell.

using tim holtz texture hammer

i made this simple card using tim holtz texture hammer. i used it on a duct tape ( bracket ) and pounced it with alcohol inks. i dont need a texture template already because the hammer serves it all.

some of the coolest colors from the collection of nick bantock stamp pad inks.

the chipboard like embellishment was from scrappinkids when they had their scrappinkids charity drive.

this textured hammer is also great for the tim holtz grunge board.

national scrapbooking day celebration at visual creations

last may 3, 2008 was national scrapbooking day and we celebrated the sale and crop day at the newly renovated visual creations store.

it was the store's soft opening too!!! look at the yummies and goodies!!!

time flies so fast. 6 months have passed. thank you marisa for the wonderful opportunity you gave me. i hope to see you this coming july.

its been 6 months and now as i ended my experience with scrapbookshawaii, i would like to take this opportunity to thank marisa for all the generosity, all the praises and comments and the trust she showed me during this short stint of 6 months. as i embark on another journey in scrapbooking, i will never forget what she wrote me, that even though she may have been so busy with delays in the kits due to our distance, she still hopes the best for me both in my chosen career and in scrapbooking.

again, thank you for the trust.

i received an email yesterday from scrapnart editor angel pruitt. she is going to publish my new altered candy tin can ( take note: not the love altered tin) on the july/august issue of scrapnart. it was supposed to go out on the april/may issue but she told me that the altered stuffs would come out on later issues and so this....

watch out for the update here on my blog soon!!!

update july 1, 2008: i was not going to be published after they emailed me that they were going to publish me. i was looking for my altered candy tin can on the ezine but did not find it and so i emailed the editor and she told me that sometimes they delete stuffs to be published because of some terms and conditions. quite disappointing after emailing you a good news, right? and so the next time they email you about you getting published, just think that it could turn out unpublished after all the expectations and they could just delete whenever they wanted to even if they said they would be publishing you.

april 15, 2008- i emailed k. croucher about whether i would be getting pub on the april issue because my submission was really for the april issue. but she said she needs resubmission and that my work will be published on the special section of the july/aug issue.
and so i emailed them again.
they emailed me a congratulatory message. and so i waited. and this...

I WON!!!

I can't believe i won ! but im so happy i did.

thank you scrappinkids for believing in my layout!! i am glad i was able to inspire to try different techniques like altering your photo and adding dimensions to any papers.

Canvas of Me

this is my altered canvas for artzdescrap for the month of May.

i doodled on maya road minichips buttons using signo white pen, sakura glaze pen, zig black pen.

an opened note using patterned paper ( i did this during our GNO holyweek special)

how did i go about doing this? a piece of canvas preprimed with gesso.

i painted the canvas with acrylic paints. different strokes! and again, i used mask technique here. i decided to leave some blank spaces too.

why not try yours? a ME canvas serves as an inspiration and a personal getaway to hang your YOU on the wall or desk and you get to experiment your hand with acrylics or watercolors paints too!!!
