spelling king

challenge 61 at journaling junkie:::

There should be something laced in the LO (to correspond to the tie my shoe). Shut the door, picking up the sticks and laying them straight can mean "recovering from something or making something in your life/self right on track" (like "picking up the pieces metaphor"). A big fat hen can mean a prize or something you look forward to when you do that recovery or picking up.

this challenge is from our very own, janis.

me, myself and i ( a fabric album class by visual creations)

last june 20, 2009, visual creations conducted a fabric album class filled with techniques. cabbie lopez ( yours truly) and iris uy demonstrated various techniques like paper peeling, crackle paint, stamping on canvas, alcohol ink and masking to the participants.

the 4 hour long class opened up creativity in the participants because they have to actually design their own pages using paints, gesso and make use of the techniques taught. some were able to finish a few pages while others took delight to finish it at home.

more so, we hope you learned at least one of the techniques taught. you can use it not only on layouts but other minis as well.

a technique taught by iris: cutting of canvas to reveal and insert stuffs inside.

cabbie lopez tried this tissue technique ( a sneak peak for a future class).

cabbie lopez: paper peeling technique.

cabbie lopez: alcohol splatter technique

iris uy: masking and misting technique

cabbie lopez: alcohol ink technique on paint

altered ephemera journal

for july at artzdescrap, our inspirational scrapper is Ramintessah Aihara, A filipina based in Japan... you can visit artzdescrap and check out her tutorial on altered journal.

for my take, i decided to compile my ephemera gifts from a postcrosser ( postcrossing addict i am!) in lithuania. she gave me these awesome labels, tickets, stickers, coasters, postcards anything from lithuania...

i used the DCWV cardboard stack and embossed the background with gold details... i also made use of vintage diecuts from k and co which are so yummy!

binding was only made from eyelets and leather strings.

mock buffet layouts

the event "scrap your stress away" scrapbook buffet event last saturday july 11, 2009 was one of the most enjoyable scrapbook event experienced by so many. here, the ladies were first given kits ( consisting of papers, alphas, rubons, stickers and lots of embelllis). with this first kit, they will scrap with a sketch and are obliged to join the challenge to be able to have their first serving in the buffet, serving = layout.

there were various challenges and demos for the day and the moderators and organizers were really hands-on with everyone just to make them comfy and of course, mojo-happy!

the girls were able to finished 294 layouts in that event with only 45 participants!!!! a guiness record? yeah!!!

the moderators were asked days before on a mock buffet dry run and here are my layouts to share.

i know the feeling when the ladies said it was really a blast to have the embellis right in front of you!!! you just have to open up your imagination a bit!

altered plastic story book

its july and time for another project at artzdescrap!!!

this time, you have to alter a story book. well, i got this plastic bath book from my kids' shelf---how many times do i have to raid their shelf for my projects eh? rulers, bags, clipboards...lol ( they have 2 of these so im not a guilty mom!). i think some of you might have this book ( free ata ito sa book fair at learning is fun)

since this is plastic, i have to "gesso" it first so that the acrylic paint will have a base.

after the gesso has dried up, paint it with your favorite color!

after much waiting....

i came up with this altered book! surprisingly...

these bedazzles are so useful to me!
do you notice the scalloped accents on the side? guess what...?

those are from the edges of this blue page... i simply have to punch it using the stampin' up paper shaper to create a crunched look.

dont throw those remnants away though... they are those accents you saw on the previous picture.

the acrylic paint will not have an even coat since plastic is non-porous and would tend to "slide".

i also decided to use the FISKARS threading water punch!!! hah!

but wait... get the thin foam out of there! coz your page won't fit in the puncher..

i used the pouchy place to store some atcs and cards...

last page is just playing with paints... i am glad i was able to raid again.
