altered candy tin can tutorial

at last, i would be posting my 4th published material for READY SET CREATE (august-september issue) here featuring the

ALTERED CANDY TIN CAN

i did this article way back months ago with a siding of tutorial and so happy to share it here on my blog.

the process:
dab dab alcohol inks on the tincan

i also used KI lace cardstock. cut into strips.

after adhering the strip, i brushed it with Mod Podge to seal it and add glossiness.

for the crackle effect which you may all be familiar with, i used the red glaze as the base and the old paper color as my choice.

i also used distress ink( fired brick ) for the frontal coating of the cracks.

finally, what evolved was an accent of flower and a cracked swirl to go with a metal bookplate.

thanks for looking!

Artful Blogging Challenge on www.bookoto.com TOOT!!!

thank you very much to bookoto.com for giving bloggers like us a chance to showcase our works as well as inspire scrappers to show their passion through artful blogging!!! to the managing editor of Artful Blogging magazine Staci Dumoski, who commented

In the end, my choice for the prize winner is Cabbie Jane Lopez, of “Cabbie’s inks, altered layouts and shabby” ( http://www..cabbiejanescrapper.blogspot.com While I admit her banner is not my favorite (that honor goes to Au Lim of “My Simply Scrappy Life”), it does fit the theme of her blog, and in the end that’s what matters.

What really won me over was Cabbie’s photography — the creativity she uses in capturing juicy detail and intriguing angles of her gorgeous projects is just wonderful. Plus, she showcases a lot of tutorial-style, work-in-progress shots, which supports the part of her mission statement that reads, “Blogging is not only about pictures, it is about steps and procedures and how a creation came about.”

Cabbie not only does that, but she does it really beautifully. I’m a real sucker for photos of artists’ studios and supplies! Congratulations, Cabbie! Keep up the good work — you’ll definitely be on my watch list from now on. And good luck to everyone who participated; I hope you all continue to enjoy your artful blogging pursuits

thank you very much for believing in my blog and works!!!

and to all bloggers who want to share their creativity, i think one of the greatest invention in the worldwide web is really blogging next to chatting. lol.. but really, i am so thankful for everything!!!

Altered Lipstick Holder turned 2-in-1 ATC published!

At last, pubbed... at scrapbook news and review... you can click here for the article

how i did it:

first of all, i would like to thank CHING PHILIPS for giving me the lipstick holder ( with a lipstick inside!) as a gift during one of our mini eb...

1. the green faux snake skin lipstick holder

2. paint the inside with glaze paints

3. paint the outside cover with acrylic paints.

4. I also applied Judikins Microglaze to make it shimmer. I have to leave it overnight and buff it to create a magnificent effect.

5. Painting with Radiant Rain instead of spraying with it adds a bit of "uniqueness". Look at the mottled effect! That's because of the Microglaze which is oily.. you just have to experiment.

6. Next part is playing with beads... I used the sepia accent as a medium for adhering the beads. I also painted the chipboard with acrylic paint.

7. How i love grungeboards!!!!

8. The sideview of the holder.

another view of the ATC

i bought some unknown chinese stamps at a japanese surplus store for only 100bucks!!! this contained 6 individual wood mounted rubber stamps! a scrapper would know the real value of such!!! and so my hands grabbed it immediately.

thanks for looking!
but

NOT ONLY THAT!!!!!!

My "Maya Road She
er Album Vintage Adventure" was also featured in the Issue!!

Artful Blogging Challenge on www.bookoto.com

this entry is for the challenge up at bookoto on artful blogging... come join the fun.. share your blog... share your passion and your happiness...!!!

*** What is your blog name and what's with the name?

The title of my simple blog is Cabbie's inks, altered, layouts and shabby. I decided on this blog name because it compasses everything about what i love to do, the encounter with this craft and what I would like to share with everyone. This scrapbook blog tells the story of my connection with the scrapbooking world, the layouts and altered items which I create and the style "shabby chic" which I fell in love right from the start.

***
How was your banner/header created (include all credits)?

Due credits to vintage elements ( dolls and papers )by raspberry road designs and orchids by rizulka. I used adobe photoshop cs3 using basic layering of the elements, I also converted the butterflies into black and white to create contrast coloring. Opacities are also adjusted accordingly. Text font of rosewood standard was also used to add to the vintage feel.

***
What is your blog about? Why did you create it?

My blog is all about passion and the love for scrapbooking and the willingness to share with everyone what I feel about this craft. My tutorials are centered on incorporating details as much as I could so that the readers would be inspired to learn. Blogging is not only about pictures, it is about steps and procedures and how a creation came about. It is also about your inner soul and the happiness that comes with it. I love details and learning new techniques and through this blog, I hope to expand my knowledge and still learn from fellow scrappers as well. For me, scrapbook blogging is one of the best thing that ever happened to me! Not only would you be able to share in detail how you processed your thoughts and creativity, you are also free to write, communicate and seek opinions of others and still find time to smile at your own creativity at the end of the day.
