mixed media class layouts

last february 6, 2010. visual creations' mixed media class took off with 16 beautiful scrappers ready to play with paints and gel mediums and creating 4 different layouts with various techniques.

i was the one who moderated the class which started at around 1 pm at the visual creations store scrapping area. first the different gel mediums were explained in a bliss and after that, the elements were done based on drying time. cutting of the papers and embellishments were also done in order as to avoid having to paint and cut at the same time.

for the first layout: ALL O' US
technique used: Heavy Gel Medium with Debossing for the title
Perfect Pearls Stamping with Versamark
Mica flakes on Hambly and Paper
Gel Medium Image Transfer
Clear Tar Gel as Glossy accent

clear tar gel as gloss

perfect pearls with stamping on chipboard

image transfer using gel medium

debossing using foam stamps in canvas in heavy gel medium

LAYOUT : CHERISH
techniques used:
tissue layering using gel medium
bedazzles
perfect pearls stamping using versamark

i decided to use the hand as a important focal point because this signifies "personal". the participants are to outline and trace their own hand in a tissue paper and cut it.

bedazzles on chipboard looks so elegant. i made use of clear tar gel as the adhesive.

LAYOUT: PASSION
technique used:
pumice gel and paint mixture
mica flakes

the breast cancer awareness symbol using 2 colors of ribbons with a vintage woman cut out from making memories.

LAYOUT: PLACES
techniques:

pumice gel and paint mixture
clear tar gel with push pin method
bedazzles

the clear tar gel has the tendency to produce stringy works. here, i used the paper piercer or the push pin method to slide some acrylic paint within the tar gel.

you can also use the left over corrugated board sheet to stamp journaling lines.

some of the pictures taken during the class... see how de-stressed they all looked!!!!!
